Hair Growth For Men - How To Regain Your Crown
Author: Elaine Hess
Hair loss is a problem that affects a greater percentage of men than it does women. The implications of hair loss in men are different from women. Male hormones are the real culprit.
The hair follicle starts dwindling away due to male hormones. Once this process sets in it is impossible to reverse it. Several treatment options are available. However, these focus on ‘replacing’ rather than ‘curing’ the problem.
The later part of this article shall shed some light on these techniques. Men can find themselves contending with this situation as early as in their twenties or thirties. Some women may also find themselves dealing with this problem; however, this would be when they are in their forties or fifties.
Further women rarely find themselves going bald due to such causes. Acceptance, that this is a very natural process, is very important before one embarks on a line of treatment. Most commonly, genetics is the root cause of this problem. Most men take it in their stride and completely shave off their heads.
Recent years have witnessed a trend towards going completely bald. This seems to be an easy solution to the problem. However, when hair is lost from only a small part of the scalp, shaving off the entire head need not be the best solution. At such times, treatment options can focus on activating the growth process again.
Hair lotions prove to be a great option. Minoxidil, a medication initially introduced to treat patients with high blood pressure has proved to be useful. Experience showed that use of this lotion encouraged hair growth; consequently, it found its place in the treatment of hair loss problems that are hereditary.
A routine of twice a day application can encourage the hair to grow back. Many people also opt for olive oil as also Rosemary oil. These home remedies, applied twice a day to the scalp, greatly encourage hair growth again. A regulated healthy life style that includes a regular intake of multivitamins can greatly help keep this problem in check.
Often, it may become necessary to resort to medical help for hair loss problems. When all the above solutions fail to help, one can consult a physician or dermatologist. They may advice one to resort to plastic surgery. This is one of the fastest means of resolving the problems.
This technique involves transporting hair from unaffected areas at the back of the scalp to the affected areas. This is useful only in cases where small portions of the scalp have been affected. Flap surgery is another useful technique, whereby the non-affected areas of the scalp are enlarged to cover those that are affected.
